Danny Howells Interview on Data Transmission

“I’ve had a long and very memorable relationship with Liverpool and this was yet another amazing experience. The venue itself was breathtaking, but everything about the night was just perfect.”

Gibb St Warehouse Opens in Birmingham

Birmingham is getting a new venue, and it’s all set to be a bit of a cracker. Gibb Street Warehouse is a new, bespoke clubbing space located in Digbeth, the heartbeat of Birmingham’s electronic music pulse. Occupying the old Space 2 complex of the Custard Factory, it’s got some great names lined up and a pretty good mantra; ‘Twentieth century vibes and values, Twenty first century experience and environment’.

The doors swing open for the first time on Saturday 31st March as House heavyweights Defected roll into Birmingham with Junior Jack and Kid Crème. One of the most successful and influential record labels in the entire history of dance music, they are fully ready to bring their soulful sound to Birmingham ahead of what will be another killer season for them in Ibiza. Hot on the heels of the launch the mighty Renaissance drops by on Easter Sunday to celebrate 20 years of global clubbing. Who else at the helm but the clubs original and most famous resident Sasha, alongside an all-star forward-thinking line-up which thrusts the club into their third decade of activity. A Renaissance Classics room celebrates the past two, as well as satisfying the nostalgic amongst you.

M.A.N.D.Y, Riva Starr, Jesse Rose, and a Diynamic Records showcase starring Solomun and David August are all among the guests etched in for the first month’s set of line ups. Further announcements are due shortly on the breathtaking programme of talent set to continue the club’s ascent throughout the Spring and Summer. And Solomun dropped this absolute corker, just in case you needed reminding of how amazing it was…

R20: Renaissance 20th Anniversary Part 1 – Sasha

“Renaissance pioneered a new form of clubbing alongside a brand new sound. Utilising stately homes and adding a regal zest to partying, they proved that clubbing need not be an experience in a dingy environment. And they did so by pushing an exciting new genre, a combination of the epic and ethereal trance and techno coming from mainland Europe with the rolling house grooves from over the Atlantic; Progressive House.”

In my day job I get to write press releases. From now on in I’ll start linking to some of them through the blog; and the first involves legendary DJ Sasha returning to Midlands based clubbing powerhouse Renaissance as they enter their twentieth year. Click on the quote.
